A 22-year-old woman identified as Bridget Phiri has died following head injuries she sustained after she and her two friends jumped out of fast moving Isuzu pick up in Nkhatabay.

Nkhatabay police publicist Ignatius Esau has confirmed the incident saying it happened on Monday at Mpamba in Nkhotakota when the deceased together with her two friends got into Isuzu pick up without the owner`s consent.

The driver, Charles Zulu was on that time coming from Mpamba Trading Centre and the three women got into the vehicle thinking he was heading to his home which is near their homes too.

It was when they discovered that the driver was proceeding all the way to Mzuzu and that they decided to jump from the fast moving car.

Esau said upon driving towards Starbag Camp Site, the three ladies took a risk of jumping from the vehicle but unfortunately Bridget sustained serious head injuries and died on spot.

The other two were referred to Mpamba Health Care after sustaining minor injuries.

The deceased hailed from Champhala village, Traditional Authority Timbiri in the same district
