A 44 year-old primary school teacher, Oliver Jinazale, from the lake shore district of Nkhotakota has committed suicide by hanging following family disputes.

According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Nkhotakota Police, Paul Malimwe, the deceased who hailed from Makuta Village in the area of Senior Chief Malengachazi in Nkhotakota, had quarreled with his wife Maureen Ellard on the night of July 24 which led the deceased to leave his home to unknown destination.

“During that night, the family quarreled and later Jinazale left his house without anyone’s knowledge, hours passed without him reporting back which prompted the wife to report the matter to the headmaster of the development,” he said.

It is reported that efforts to trace the deceased’s whereabouts had started the same night only to find him lifeless behind Chongole Primary School whilst hanging about 200 meters away from his house.

“The deceased used a string to take his life, medical personnel from Nkhotakota District Hospital confirmed that the death was due to strangulation,” explained Malimwe.

He further disclosed that investigations on the matter were still underway.

Meanwhile police are advising the general public to use normal channels in solving family disputes.
