A 25-year-old Nkhotakota man has committed suicide by hanging himself over family matters, police say.
Nkhotakota police deputy public relations officer Paul Malimwe identified the deceased as Masauko Makiyi whom his wife was suspecting him of having a secret affair with another woman.
“On August 01, 2017 during night the family were discussing about the matter and later the deceased left home to his parents in the same village which is almost a kilometre. On wee hours of August 02, 2017, the deceased was found lifeless while hanging along Chankhombe River about some metres away from home. The deceased used a string to take his life,” said Malimwe.
He was then taken to Nkhotakota district hospital where the medical report confirmed the death was due to strangulation.
The deceased hailed from Mvula village, Traditional Authority Mphonde in the district.
