Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Grace Obama Chiumia on Saturday apologized to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for what she described as unruly behaviours by some security personnel in the country.
Obama’s apology came barely weeks after Malawi Prison Service went on strike demanding salary adjustment by the Mutharika’s administration.
Speaking during a service of prayers at the Malawi Police Headquarters at Area 30 in Lilongwe, Obama said the conduct of security agency in the country have put her ministry into disrupt.
“Let me take this opportunity your excellency to ask for forgiveness as security institutions we behave in a way we are not supposed to, that’s why we have these prayers, sometimes Satan has been able to disable us,” said Chiumia.
On his part, President Mutharika urged security officers to work jointly in safeguarding the country.
