Death has been announced of Faith Mwangonde from Chilinde who had muscle disease or an inborn error of metabolism.

The girl experienced a general muscle weakness. As a result of this, she could not walk for some time, chew or swallow food.

Last week Thursday, the child was taken ill and was rushed to Kamuzu Central where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and she could only breathe with the help of oxygen machines.

She passed on last night.

Writing on his official facebook page, Onjezani Kenani who was one of the well-wishers sourcing funds for the child said she was deeply shocked with the development.

“This evening, I first received a WhatsApp text from and spoke on phone with her auntie, Ms Florence Mwalwanda, who informed me that Faith has passed on. Dear Faith, we tried our best but our best was not good enough. I am shaking as I type this, my God. Rest in peace, little angel. I am truly grateful to all those of you who tried to help. May God bless you all,” wrote Kenani.

Doctors at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in the capital recommended that she should travel to India for medical treatment and money amounting to MK10 million was required.

It is said that well-wishers set up a committee to raise funds for the girl and the committee managed to raise money amounting to MK6 million.
