Five people have died while five others are battling for their lives at Balaka District Hospital after being involved in road accident in Ntcheu.

Ntcheu police spokesperson Hastings Chigaru confirmed of the accident in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to Chigaru, the accident happened after the driver of the Vehicle identified as Sekani Ngulube failed to negotiate a bend at a T junction from M5 road from Salima to M1 road.

“Three have escaped with minor injuries while the only infant on board escaped unhurt. Two people have been injured seriously while five people of the total eleven, including the driver, died on the spot,” said Chigaru.

The vehicle registration number MG 5559 belongs to Chitipa District Agriculture Development Office and was headed for Blantyre.
