Member of Parliament for Balaka North Lucius Banda has hailed United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi for listening to the cries of the party supporters and embarking on the rebuilding exercise ahead of the 2019 polls.
Banda’s remarks follow the recent rally the Party held in Nyambadwe Primary School ground in the commercial capital Blantyre where he welcomed two former UDF diehard supporters namely; Clement Stambuli and Yusuf Mwawa.
Writing on his official facebook page, Banda said the move taken by Muluzi clearly shows that the party is still alive.
“I wish to personally congratulate Right Honorable Atupele Muluzi for holding another rally that has brought back two former UDF diehards.
“This is a strategic move that shows that UDF is working underground to revamp its grassroots,” wrote Banda.
He added: “The same way the supporters and followers asked for rallies and the leadership has responded, it is now time to tell our voters what is to come in 2019.
“Give them the message and answers that they have long been waiting for. Let us work towards ensuring the message is sent across the country and beyond.”
Muluzi and Banda has of late not seeing each other eye to eye due to UDF’s marriage with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Banda described the marriage as not beneficial to the party, saying it is only benefiting Muluzi who is also Minister of Health.
