Mchinji police publicist, Kaitano Lubrino has confirmed the arrest of five notorious criminals following the series of robbery activities that have been going on in the district.
In addition, police have also retrieved stolen properties which include, laptops, cellphones, a motorcycle, bicycles, solar battery and other accessories.
The suspected criminals have been identified as Gerald Chimgwede 27, Christopher Thomas Banda 28, James Phiri 37, Lefani Kachitete 27 and Ahemadu Yusuf 41.
They were arrested following a tip by one of them.
According to Lubrino, the five criminals where involved in two identified robberies in the district where from one, they got away with goods wealth K658, 000 and hacked the owner with a Panga knife and also stole goods wealth K900,000 from a separate business lady`s house.
Christopher Banda also killed a Kabaza motorcyclist who was operating at Mchinji Boma.
The motorcycle has however been recovered.
All the suspected criminals will soon appear in court to answer charges.
