As debate continues on what happened for water to be mixed with sewage in Area 18 in the capital Lilongwe, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday visited the affected families and offered them a message of hope.

Four weeks ago Area 18 residents had sewage-filled water flowing from their taps.

The development angered the residents who took the issue to the street demanding compensation from Lilongwe Water Board and Lilongwe City Council (LCC).

And on Wednesday, Chakwera visited the affected families and said the affected residents need to be talked to by a psychologist over the sewage horror.

“Some of these problems do not only affect our physical beings, but also our psychological being, hence , the need to engage a psychologist to talks to these affected people,” said Chakwera.

Meanwhile the affected families are demanding Mk2 million kwacha as compensation on each and every family.
