A road accident in Dowa has claimed the life of a 32-year-old man identified as Jabesi Chipasula who hailed from Chadza village Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe.

Dowa police spokesperson, Richard Kaponda said the incident happened on Thursday at Chezi Trading Centre in Dowa as the victim who was trying to cross the tarmac road was hit by a fast moving Toyota Hiace with registration number NS2186.

The driver of the vehicle, Josephy Kumbuyo was on his way from Lilongwe direction heading to Salima carrying 15 passengers on board.

His vehicle struck the victim upon reaching Chezi Trading Centre and he sustained head injuries following the hit.

He was pronounced dead while receiving medical treatment at Dowa District Hospital.

The postmortem revealed he died due to severe loss of blood.

Another road accident involving a public minibus happened on Sunday in Mzuzu whereby one person lost his life after being hit by the minibus with registration number KA8824.

The driver of the minibus was taken to custody awaiting to answer charges of causing death due to reckless driving.

Police are repeatedly asking all road users to take caution to avoid accidents.
