A court in Lilongwe has sentenced a 26-year-old Chisomo Kangaude of Londa-Londa village, Traditional Authority Phambala in Ntcheu for stealing K620.000 worth of items and K120.000 cash.
The prosecutor, Vasco Magwaya told the court that on August 4, the convict in company of his friends broke into one house in Lilongwe, area 25 where they stole properties worth K620.000 and K120.000 cash.
Police later recovered some of the stolen items which among them were Plasma screen, two speakers, a power bank and a mobile phone.
Appearing before court, the suspect admitted guilty to Burglary and theft charges contrary to section 309 and 278 of the penal code respectively.
Nkukula magistrate Cecilia Onsewa mentioned of how such theft cases involving valuable items have come to the rise in the country.
Onsewa then sentenced the man to 3-years in prison for burglary and a year for theft which will all run continuously.
