An explosion rocked the Afghan capital of Kabul near the US embassy Tuesday morning.

Police have confirmed one casualty. Eight wounded persons were rushed to a hospital.

The blast occurred near Massoud square, where the US embassy is housed, along with several other western diplomatic buildings.

Interior Ministry spokesman, Najib Danish gave the location as the entrance to a Kabul Bank branch.

The attacked is believed to have been carried out by a suicide bomber spotted by police in the area.
