Nkhotakota police spokesperson Paul Malimwe has confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old man who went to his ex-wife house and attacked her with a sharp panga knife.

Malimwe has identified the suspect as Enock Chiwedza.

“The victim was wakened by heavy knocking at the door and upon opening the door, she was surprised to find that it was her ex-husband.

“She asked him the reason of his visit and instead the suspect started assaulting the victim with a panga knife,” said Malimwe.

Following the attack well-wishers took the victim to police after she sustained cuts on the forehead and right shoulder.

Chiweza is expected to appear in court to answer the charges of grievous harm contrary to section 238 of the penal code.

Chiwedza hails from Mnyanga village, Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota.
