Anti-corruption bureau has arrested the Judiciary spokesperson, Mlenga Mvula at his office at high court in Blantyre on allegations of corruption.
According to a statement by ACB, Mvula is likely to be charged with obtaining money by false pretence which is contrary to section 319 of the penal code and misuse of public office contrary to section 25b(1) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
Mvula was also arrested together with Reverend Daniel Mhone of the United Methodist Church.
ACB says Mvula, corruptly solicited K10.7 million and other favours from the United Methodist Church to which he is a member, in the names of High Court Judges and the Attorney General’s office.
The money was purportedly meant for the Attorney General’s office, judges, Judiciary and Mvula for influencing the outcome of a Court case involving Reverend Jawati and the United Methodist Church.
