The big cash had come from bonus clauses, which saw the stars earning percentages of the syndication payments that come from the record-breaking show being aired in more than 170 countries. The stars are also said to be benefitting from payments from re-runs, with shows earning audiences of up to 23 million people during the sixth season.
Meanwhile, Harington is reportedly worth $12m.
Before becoming a member of the Night’s Watch…
Prior to his starring in the Game of Thrones as a member and later the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch [a military order which holds and guards the Wall, the immense ice structure which separates the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms from the lands beyond], Harington originally wanted to become a journalist.
Born as Christopher Catesby Harington on December 26, 1986 in Acton, London, he studied acting at a drama school. His film debut was in “Silent Hill: Revelation” (2012). He has since appeared in films such as the romantic historical film “Pompeii” (2014); the computer-animated fantasy film “How to Train Your Dragon 2” (2014); and the British drama film “Testament of Youth” (2014).
Since 2011, Harington has risen to prominence playing the role of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, which garnered him a nomination for the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award.
In 2017, he became one of the highest paid actors on television, earning £2m per episode of the TV series.
A kingly East Anglia home
Harington started dating Game of Thrones co-star, Rose Leslie, in 2012. They confirmed their relationship in 2016 and moved in together in 2017.
Recently, they snapped up an impressive £1.75m home in the English countryside in East Anglia.
The couple’s new abode takes inspiration from the series that catapulted them into the spotlight as it boasts a medieval-inspired moat around the property while it offers a swimming pool to help unwind after a hard day on set.
The impressive seven-bedroomed home, which is placed on a whopping eight acres, is equipped with a number of romantic features including exposed timbers, thatch roof and enchanting lawns.
Taking inspiration from his infamous line that “winter is coming”, Harington and Rose can warm up in the colder months by their impressive open fire which is decorated with a number of traditional furnishings.
It also features a guest annex, wooden barn, stabling, a pavilion, tennis court, croquet lawn and stabling across the sprawling grounds which boasts an other-worldly charm.
Equipped for a banquet of medieval proportions, the dynamic pair’s dining room fits seating for 10 comfortably with space for more should they invite their cast mates over for a house-warming.
Although accustomed to life on location, the pair will be no doubt pleased to delve into some home-cooking during their down-time on their striking aga stove.
The couple’s homely kitchen carries the 15th century theme through with it’s exposed timber beams, stone floors and wooden touches.
As the saying goes, “home is where the heart is,” but in this case it’s rather whether their standout stove hearth is place in their jaw-dropping kitchen.
Harington’s master suite is fit for a king with its white-washed walls, en suite and study which gives him the perfect sense of zen as he unwinds after a busy day on set.
While outside, the property, which is housed on eight acres, comes equipped with a timber barn that currently holds a snooker table but could be made into Harington’s den or a space for Leslie to unwind following long stints away.
According to reports, the East Anglia town’s residents are more than thrilled to have the Hollywood stars join their community.
A neighbour had shared, “How thrilling – everyone is talking about the glamorous couple from the Game of Thrones moving in.
“There are quite a few celebs round here including rock stars and well-known TV people – so no-one makes much of a fuss and locals are very respectful of their privacy.”
Another added, “It’s a really magical part of the world – very peaceful and quiet – and if someone wants to remain private then they can.”
Life in the Jaguar
Harington drives an insanely beautiful Jaguar F-Type, which costs an average of $80,000
From its seductively long hood to its steeply raked windshield and wide rear haunches, the F-type is a stunner. Offered as both a coupe and a convertible, it gets a snarling 3.0-litre supercharged V-6 pumping out 340hp to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
Racier S models get a boost to 380hp and offer all-wheel drive with the automatic. Suspension tuning is firm, and the F-type is always eager to play, but the cost is an often harsh ride over bumpy roads.
Introduced in 2013 as a 2014 model, the F-type is arguably Jaguar’s first real sports car, as distinct from a grand tourer, since the E-type seduced attendees at the Geneva motor show in 1961.
Offered in hatchback coupe and convertible editions, the F-type boasts exceptional rigidity with an aluminium-intensive chassis, an accomplishment by the engineering and development team that necessitates little compensatory bracing for the open-top version.
The designers created a head-turning exterior that makes the F-type a contender for best-looking ride in a class populated with several beauty queens.
Propulsion comes from one of two supercharged engines, a 3.0-litre V-6 and a 5.0-litre V-8. Both the six and the eight are offered in two states of tune, with outputs ranging from 340 to 575 horsepower. A six-speed manual is available with the V-6, and a rapid-shifting eight-speed automatic is optional with the V-6, standard with the V-8. All-wheel drive is available on higher V-6 trim levels and standard with the V-8.
The combination of high chassis rigidity, firm suspension tuning, and exemplary powertrains position this hottest of Jaguars on a par with the best in a distinguished class. Add competitive pricing, and the Jaguar F-type makes a compelling case as a world-class sports car with a British accent.
