A 22-year-old man has been arrested by police in Lilongwe after he was discovered trying to transact counterfeit notes through Zoona money transfer.

The suspect has been identified as Chione Apatsamosiyana who was apprehended on Monday September 4, while attempting to transfer the counterfeit notes through Zoona Agent at Lumbadzi Trading Centre.

It is also believed that the money was being sent to a man who produces the fake notes who stays in Chinsapo, Lilongwe.

“The Agent noted that the Bank Notes were fake and tipped the police who later arrested Apatsamosiyana,” said Kanengo Police Public Relations Officer Labani Makalani.

However, Makalani did not disclose the total amount of the fake money.

The suspect is therefore expected to appear in court to answer charges committed against.

He comes from Kadzakamba village, Traditionala Authority Chakhdza in Dowa.
