Uladi Mussa has been suspended as a member of the People’s Party National Executive Committee (NEC), faceofmalawi can reveal.
The suspension comes barely hours after Mussa launched an unexpected leadership challenge on the party’s leader Joyce Banda, declaring presidential aspirations in 2019.
Mussa told the media in Lilongwe on Thursday that Banda’s tenure has expired.
But the party’s NEC, which met in the Capital Friday, found Mussa’s announcement ill-timed and suspended the interim leader.
Effort to talk to Mussa proved futile.
