One of the renowned gospel musicians in the country Princess Chitsulo has exposed the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) in sentiments which she described the body as deceiving and greedy to artist`s work.
In a Facebook post that the singer posted, Chitsulo referred COSOMA as an enemy who has been pretending as a friend citing that her complaints on vendors and others who pirate her music indoors are over.
The Nyimbo Yanga star seems to have finally come out of the dark up to the point of advising her fans not to trust on buying COSOMA CD`s with stickers as the money always lands in the pockets of thieves.
“Take note these people are the ones bringing art down in Malawi not you as consumers. With a great regret i want you to know that i really appreciate all the efforts you do to support us as musicians in order to see us excel but unfortunately all what you giving us ends in the hands of the thieves our organization trusted so much to do the job on our behalf,” revealed Chitsulo.
However, she suggested a solution to these greedy games saying that there is a need for another body like COSOMA to act as a competitor.
“We want a body which has its integrity and values. We want change in COSOMA. If all fails we will force tings even if it means doing without protocol,” said Chitsulo.
COSOMA was established in 1992 under section 41 of the Malawi Copyright Act of 1989 with a vision statement to be a vibrant and sustainable Society that promotes and protects creative works in Malawi in which copyright subsist.
