Cecilia Kumpukwe, a sister to former President Dr. Joyce Banda has denied playing a role in the ongoing talks between opposition People’s Party (PP) and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for a possible alliance ahead of the 2019 polls.

On Sunday PP MPs met President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe where they discussed for a possible loose alliance like that of United Democratic Front (UDF) under Atupele Muluzi.

According to an article published by Nation Newspaper dated November 20, 2017, the paper reported that Kumpukwe is part of the delegations that is facilitating the talks.

But Kumpukwe trashed the claims through a short statement posted on her official facebook page seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

“Anandimanga munthune. Pano every Tuesday ndimakachita report ku Police. Today I was there with Stella Asani. Ndiye mukuti ndilipa delegation ya ma negotiations? God forbid. Leave me alone Munandimanga.

“Oloatandithila doom mkamwa,” wrote Kumpukwe.

Meanwhile Rumphi East Member of Parliament Kamlepo Kalua has also distanced itself from the alliance.
