US Government has come in help for Malawi to provide salary support for Malawian healthcare workers in Lilongwe, Zomba, and Blantyre districts for 3 years.

The salary support is only meant for health workers deployed in these 3 districts which have a high number of people living with HIV.

According to report, 325 health workers have been deployed to these districts up to date and the number of deployed health workers is expected to rise by end December.

The initiative has been made possible by the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

These healthcare workers include Nurse Midwife Technicians, Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Assistants, Lab Technicians, and Clinical Technicians who will provide critical HIV/AIDS and other life-saving services to hundreds of thousands of Malawians.
