Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) top official Chatinkha Chizanja Nkhoma has denied reports hovering on the social media claiming that she has joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Chizanja Nkhoma on Monday attended the official launch of China-Africa Textile Project together with former acting People’s Party (PP) President Uladi Mussa.

Her presence at the rally attracted speculations that Chatinkha has joined the ruling DPP.

When contacted for comment Chizanja Nkhoma quashed the rumour saying she attended the launch of the textile industry as an investor.

Nkhoma claimed that she was invited at the function and she accepted the invitation as Lucius Banda does when invited to perform at Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and DPP functions.

On his part Mussa denied commenting on the matter.

Meanwhile President Mutharika said DPP is open to every member who wants to join it.
