A 47-year-old man who was imprisoned after being found guilty for spreading the deadliest HIV virus through a traditional practice called Kulowa kufa has been released.
Eric Haniva who disclosed he is HIV positive was arrested in 2016 after he revealed through BBC that he had slept with over 104 girls through a cleansing practice of Kulowa Kufa.
Following his revelations on BBC radio, the government of Malawi ordered for his immediate arrest saying he was violating rights of innocent girls who are supposed to be protected.
Meanwhile, Haniva is now a free man as he has completed serving the sentence he was ordered to serve by court.
