Police in Lilongwe have launched an investigation that can lead to arrest of unknown suspects who robbed off assorted items worth K1.9 million belonging to Salima North Member of Parliament Jessie kabwila.

Laban Makalani, public relations officer for Kanengo Police station has confirmed of the incident saying that it occurred on Friday 6th April at area 25a.

According to the PRO, the MP had parked her car Toyota Hilux to attend a meeting which was taking place in the area on the said day.

Later after the meeting, Kabwira discovered her items were nowhere to be seen as she was about to drove off. Among the items were a laptop, a cellphone, passport, cheque book, ATM cards and some foreign currencies all worth K1.9 million.

It is alleged that the criminals had used unknown tools to open the driver’s door and stole the items.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation that can lead to the arrest of the culprits to face theft charges under section 278 of the penal code.
