Malawians have asked the vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima to say something on the remarks made by former First Lady Callista Mutharika declaring him as presidential torchbearer for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the forthcoming tripartite election.
Speaking in Hot current propgramme aired on Times Television on Sunday hosted by Brian Banda, Times Group Editor in-chief George Kasakula said there is a voice in Chilima’s silence.
Kasakula said Chilima’s silence means he is in agreement with what Callista said.
Concurring with Kasakula’s remarks, social commentator Humphrey Mvura said Chilima’s silence is putting the life of Callista in an awkward situation.
“The vice President cannot remain silent while his followers are receiving death threats,” said Mvula.
On his part one of the concerned citizen who opted for the condition of anonymity alleged Chilima’s silent means he sent Callista to utter such remarks.
Meanwhile debate on the matter continues.
