The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has endorsed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as torch bearer for the party in the 2019 polls, trashing calls by former first lady Callista Mutharika and the party’s national youth director Louis Ngalande.

DPP Vice President for Central Region Hetherwick Ntaba disclosed this in a media briefing held in the capital Lilongwe.

In his speech Ntaba said Mutharika has done a lot for Malawi and should continue ruling #Malawi.

Concurring with Ntaba’s remarks Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi said there no proper reason to look for another presidential candidate for 2019 polls other than President Peter Mutharika.

Dausi also trashed reports that the party is divided into two camps, that of Mutharika and that of the vice President.

The Minister also accused the media of trying to divide the party by writing negative stories about that party, saying this is not good.
