Police in Dowa district are keeping in custody a 29-year-old man for killing his 50-year-old in-law following an argument.
The suspect has been identified as Zakeyu Lambulani whiles the deceased as Sikisi Chalaza who hailed from Chilundu village, T/A Mkukula in Dowa.
Reports say Lumbani’s goats went into the deceased’ garden and destroyed all his crops.
Following that, the deceased went to complain to his in-law about the sad development. After a day, he went to drink beer and also went to Lambulani’s house where the two started quarreling and a fight broke up afterwards.
In the midst of fighting, Lambulani withdrew steel that he used to hit his in-law who suddenly fell down unconscious.
The deceased was rushed to the hospital but he died upon arrival due to severe loss of blood.
Meanwhile, police have since arrested Lambulani for an offence of murder under section 209 of the penal code.
The suspect also hails from the same village of Chilundu in the area of traditional authority Mkukula in Dowa.
