Minister of Finance and Economic Development Goodall Gondwe who is also vice President for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has endorsed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer in the forthcoming tripartite election.
Gondwe made the remarks during a party conference held at the party offices in the Northern Region witnessed by faceofmalawi reporter.
In his speech Gondwe said running government is a not for babies but for mature people with experience, indirectly attacking the country’s vice President Saulos Chilima.
Gondwe went further by saying the whole northern region rallies behind President Mutharika.
“The government of Mutharika has done more to this country than nobody else and we the people of the north are proud of him,” said Gondwe.
On Thursday DPP top officials led by Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi held a conference in the capital Lilongwe also trashing the remarks made by the country former first lady Callista Mutharika.
Dausi and his colleagues said the party will field Mutharika as the Presidential candidate in the forthcoming tripartite election.
