Malawi’s President Peter Muntharika will arrive in the country tomorrow on Saturday, the same day which the former president Joyce Banda is also expected to arrive after a self-imposed four year political exile.

The plane carrying the president is expected to touch down at Kamuzu International Airport at 16:00hrs while reports from the other side say ex-president Joyce Banda will arrive through Chileka International Airport on the same day and will on the following day hold a mass rally in Blantyre.

The vice president Saulos Chilima expected to welcome the president from UK where he attended this year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Through his journey, the president attended CHOGM meeting in London from 16th to 20th and thereafter proceeded to Scotland where he fulfilled a number of engagements aimed at cementing the bilateral relations between Malawi and Scotland.

The former president, Banda who is also leader of the opposition People’s Party (PP), has been out of the country on private engagements since her loss in the May 20 2014 Tripartite Elections.

She was mentioned to have had a hand in the ongoing cash gate case.

Last year, Banda cancelled her return home hours after the police issued a warrant of her arrest.

When news of her return had surfaced earlier this week, Malawi police repeated to remind people that her warrant of arrest remains valid and she can be executed once she gets home on Saturday.
