Dust is refusing to settle in the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) following the convention held this week in the capital Lilongwe.
On Tuesday night Frank Mwenefumbo held his own convention at his house and he was elected as President of the Party replacing Enock Chihana.
Surprisingly, Chihana described Mwenefumbo’s election as illegal and he also convened his own convention at Don Bosco Technical College where he was also elected as President of the party.
The development means the party is now having two leaders, borrowing a leaf from Kenya where Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader Raila Odinga tussled for leadership.
Odinga inaugurated himself as President, a month after the inauguration of Kenyatta as President of Kenya.
