As the infighting in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) continues, Independent Member of Parliament for Mchinji South Divelias Zaipa has endorsed the country vice President Saulos Chilima as the only hope if Malawi is to develop.

Zaipa said this in parliament when he was responding to President Peter Mutharika’s State of the Nation Address in parliament on Friday.

He said Malawians are tired of the current high levels of corruption saying it is leaders of Chilima’s caliber that are needed for Malawi to develop.

The remarks attracted shouting from government MPs and others were ahead saying ‘akutuma et!’.

DPP is currently divided into two camps-that of President Mutharika while the other group led by former first lady Callista Mutharika is behind Chilima.

Chilima’s camp is claiming that President Mutharika is too old to rule the country again.
