Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) will hold the much awaited national convention on Saturday in the capital Lilongwe.

The development comes barely hours after the Supreme Court of Appeal granted a stay of execution of the injunction order obtained by the party Secretary General Gustav Kaliwo and four others namely; Director of International Relations Tony Kandiero, Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila, First Deputy Secretary General Chatonda Kaunda and Vice President Richard Msowoya.

MCP Regional chairman for the south Peter Simbi confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) on Thursday.

According to Simbi, he received a communiqué from top officials to mobilize 104 delegates in the South to travelling to Lilongwe for the Indaba.

The Party’s Chairman for Central region Mr. Chizanja confirmed of the development in separate interview.

Meanwhile it is not known if the party’s Vice President Richard Msowoya will contest in the convention
