Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for scalding his wife with hot cooking oil after the two picked up a quarrel.

Dedza police public relations officer Sub-Inspector Edward Kabango has identified the suspect as Anafi Bwanali who committed the offence on 29th April.

“The victim, Romana Jeke complained about the husband’s ill treatment one of their children and this angered the man and started fighting his wife, said Kabango.

It is further reported that the quarrel was taking place while the wife was cooking oil from a cooker.

“In the midst of action, the wife withdrew a flying pan that she was using in cooking the oil with an aim to pour the hot oil on her husband. But the husband managed to rescue himself by pushing away his wife. Following that, the oil spilt on the woman’s face and chest while some poured on the suspects’ arm, further explained Kabango.

The couple sort to keep the story within their family until one person reported the matter to police hence the suspect’s arrest.

Bwanali has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm and he is to answer in court soon.

He hails from Katsekaminga village, T/A Kamenyagwaza in Dedza.
