Three people are reported dead while two others have sustained serious injuries after they were hit by a vehicle at kapalamula village near umbwi secondary school around 6pm on Monday.
The accident comes barely days after another minibus accident that claimed 6 lives at Nathenje.
Police have confirmed of the accident and have identified the deceased as Willy Banda 45 from kapiri village T/A Kachindamoto, his son Blessings Banda 9 from Kapesi village T/A kachere and the unknown deceased.
According to the report, the victims met their fate as they were walking along the M1 road when they were hit by a vehicle registration number BU 6216 a Ford Ranger.
The vehicle was coming from the Ntcheu direction heading Lilongwe and was being driven by Tony Chiwaya 61 from Chinomba village T/A Chikumbu in Mulanje.
Upon arrival at the said place, he hit unknown motorcyclist who wanted to cross the road. As a result, the vehicle swerved off the road and hit six pedestrians and three of them named above died on the spot due to head injuries.
The other two Manuela Chalinga 22 from Kapesi village T/A Kachere and the unknown motorcyclist sustained serious head injuries and admitted to Dedza District Hospital.
Meanwhile the driver has been arrested.
