Former Minister of Information and Communications Technology Malison Ndau has endorsed the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima to be presidential candidate for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
Ndau made the endorsement when reacting to the claims by DPP youth director Lewis Ngalande implicating him of being part of the underground movement support Chilima.
In his remarks, Ndau said its better for President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to leave the political field now with good legacy than to be dragged to power and leave with battered image.
“Mutharika has done his part and its time for him to go,” said Ndau in an interview with Times radio.
The whole issue was started by former first lady Callista Mutharika who publicly rejected President Mutharika’s candidature in the forthcoming polls.
Callista argued that Mutharika is aging and asked him to leave the party in the hands of Chilima, saying he is only hope for Malawi and DPP.
