Three police officers have been arrested on suspicion that they broke into a police warehouse in Lumbadzi and stole assorted items meant for exhibition in court.

The suspects have been identified as Superintendent Gertrude Munkhindia of police headquarters, Inspector Phandama of Lumbadzi police and also Inspector Donnex Munthali of the same Lumbadzi police.

One of the suspects Donnex Munthali reported on Monday that Sunday around, 11:20hrs, unknown criminals broke into Lingadzi police warehouse and went away with assorted items.

Pharmaceutical items like, Carolight lotion, Epiderm lotion, Lemonvate cream, Betasol cream, Actif plus, Funbact and etc, which all were meant for exhibition in court got stolen. Also one HP laptop, five bottles of spirit beer were discovered missing.

It was reported that all the stolen items were seized after police officers, Malawi bureau of standards and Malawi pharmacy and poisons board officers conducted an exercise within the city against products which are not supposed to be on the market.

Meanwhile, the suspects will soon appear in court to answer charges accordingly.
