Police in Chikwawa are looking for a man for allegedly killed his 12-year-old cousin after he visited his house.
Chikwawa police station public relations officer Constable Foster Benjamin has identified the suspect as Thomas Harry and the victim as Harry Chiphaka.
According to Benjamin, the suspected had banned his cousin from visiting him at his house due to his misconduct.
On Saturday, the victim dared to visit his uncle’s house in search of his playmates at Sekeni village in the area of paramount chief Lundu in Chikwawa.
“The visit, however, didn’t please the uncle since the boy had already been banned from visiting the house due to his alleged mischievousness. He then dragged the nephew into his house and started beating him with a metal object, leaving him seriously injured both in the head and on the left arm,” Benjamin.
It is reported that the child collapsed and was taken to his parent’s home and thereafter at the St Montfort Mission Hospital where he was admitted until his death of Sunday.
A postmortem revealed that the death was due to severe head injuries. Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for the culprit who is currently at large.
