Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vice president, Sidik Mia has said he will contest for a parliamentary seat in Chikwawa Nkombezi Constituency in the forthcoming tripartite election.

Mia made the announcement on Sunday when he was celebrating his election as Vice President of MCP at his house in Ngabu in Chikwawa District.

“I left the constituency hoping that the person who would come would do half of the things I would have done but he [Lloyd Malola] has not performed,” Mia said.

Mia said during the time he was Cabinet minister and legislator, he achieved a lot.

When contacted for comment Malola, a lawmaker for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) expressed surprise over Mia’s stand.

Malola said he has developed the area and the constituency is better than before.

He also expressed hope that he will defend the constituency in the forthcoming polls.
