Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Monday afternoon summoned Saulos Chilima to Sanjika Palace over the remarks he made in Ntchisi at the weekend.
In Chilima is on record to have hinted that he will not stay long in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) citing massive unchecked corruption and theft.
“Ndimafuna ndinenepo za mchitidwe wakatangale ndi kuba, palibe angatsutse kuti zanyanya…tsopano dziko likachuluka atambwali lithapo. Ndi zija mumamva kuti band yagawana zida,” Chilima is reported to have said in chichewa.
The remarks attracted mixed reactions with many forecasting that Chilima is about to leaving the ruling DPP due to the fact that some top blast in the Party led by Vice President for the South Dr. George Chaponda don’t want him.
The remarks also did not go down well with the President who on Monday summoned Chilima to explain what he was trying to say.
Presidential spokesperson Ngeme Kalirani has confirmed the meeting but says he was not aware of the agenda.
Effort to talk to Chilima’s Press Officer Pilirani Phiri proved futile.
Meanwhile the outcome of the meeting is not known at the moment.
