Former first lady Callista Mutharika has asked her brother in-law, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to say something on the remarks made by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Grezeldar Jeffrey on Saturday in Thyolo.

Jeffrey wa Jeffrey is on record to have told people on Saturday that Callista Mutharika killed her husband late Bingu wa Mutharika.

She went further by saying that Callista is bitter with President Peter Mutharika because he refused to give the former First Lady Ndata Farm.

“Anthu aku Thyolo ndati ndikuwuzeni, a Bingu anawapha ndi Mayi uja Callista,” said Jeffrey wa Jeffrey while attracting ululations from the people who gathered at the event.

Speaking in an interview with the press Callista express shock over the matter and she asked President Mutharika to say something on the issue.

“I can believe this, how can someone utter such a statement in front of the deceased brother. I am for my in-law to say something on the matter before a take any action,” said Callista.

When contacted for comment Presidential Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani distanced the President on the matter.

“The President is not interested in commenting on personal issues,” said Kalilani.

A commission of inquiry instituted by former President Dr. Joyce Banda revealed that late Bingu wa Mutharika died of cardiac arrest.
