Member of Parliament for Mulanje West Constituency Patricia Kaliati has hailed State Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima for dumping the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Chilima on Wednesday morning called for a press conference at Capitol Hill in the capital Lilongwe where he openly said he will soon be leaving the DPP.
He also ruled out possibilities of challenging President Mutharika at the party’s convention scheduled for this month.
Speaking in an interview with the press Kaliati who is also one of the people who are in forefront championing the Chilima movement, said Chilima’s decision has saved the group from the impending terror attack by the ruling DPP.
“The decision by Chilima is a true reflection of a true leadership. Some of the the boys that DPP has not paid came and warned us of evil plan at the convention,” said Kaliati.
Kaliati also hinted that the movement is still intact and it will continue discharging its duties.
Concurring with Kaliati’s remarks, Member of Parliament for Mulanje South Bon Kalindo the movement is very much alive.
He also promised that he will follow Chilima wherever he goes.
Meanwhile social commentators have warned the ruling DPP that the party should not celebrate this.
