Mwanza First Grade Magistrate Court on Wednesday sentenced a 20 year old man to six months imprisonment with hard labour for an offence of theft which is contrary to section 278 of the penal code.

The convict has been identified as named James Livison of Chapati Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mlauli in Mwanza District.

The court heard through the state prosecutor sub inspector Joshua Chirambo that on 30th day of March 2018 James stole 10 chickens valued at K30,000 belonging to his employer identified as Veronica kapichi.

Livison was arrested few days later.

On June 4, James appeared before court and pleaded not guilty and the court paraded three witnesses who proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

After hearing from both sides, the presiding Magistrate his worship Runwell Mangazi slapped the accused to 6months Imprisonment with hard labour.
