Chilima movement continues to gather momentum despite the country’s vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima pulling out of the presidential race in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ahead of the much awaited convention scheduled for this month.
Chilima on Wednesday last week held a press conference in Lilongwe, where he announced that he would not contest for any position at DPP’s elective convention this month.
The vice President went further by announcing that he will soon be leaving the ruling DPP.
The announcement shocked many Malawians and some thought Chilima’s followers led by the country’s former first lady Callista Mutharika will disband but this is not the case.
Instead the grouping is gathering momentum more than before and the movement has now unveiled vehicles with Chilima’s initials.
According to information at hand, the vehicles are expected to start operating in the countr’s roads very soon.
It is said that the movement is being funded by DPP’s organizing Secretary Richard Makondi who has now turned against President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
This can be witnessed on one of the photos which show Makondi posing with the vehicles.
