A 25-year-old man in Chikwawa has landed in police cell for stealing sugarcane worth K15, 000.00.
Chikwawa police public relations officer Constable Foster Benjamin has identified the suspect as Frazer Samuel who committed the offence on Tuesday around 5 pm.
According to Benjamin, the suspect is said to have stolen 10 canes belonging to Kasinthula Cane Growers Limited which are worth about K15, 000.00 where each cane is charged at K1, 500.00 as per company rate.
“Security guards manning the field apprehended the suspect who was busy illegally harvesting the canes. They then handed him over to Chikwawa police station and he has since been charged with theft, said” Benjamin.
Meanwhile, Samuel will soon appear in court to answer charges rendered against him.
He hails from Chinangwa village in the area of traditional authority Katunga in Chikwawa.
