Former commissioner of the Malawi Police Service (MPS) in the north has joined the Chilima movement advocating for the candidature of the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima in the 2019 polls, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Chilika Simfukwe has also declared that he will contest at Member of Parliament for Mzimba in the forthcoming polls.
Chilima movement coordinator for the North Afiki Mbewe confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mbewe, the membership in the region has risen to 33.
Chilima last week called for a media briefing where he revealed that he will soon be leaving the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The development attracted mixed reactions with many applauding him for his decision.
Some members of the Chilima movement in the north also promised to follow him.
