A nurse is in police custody in Dedza for allegedly attempting to rape a pregnant woman at Kefele Health Centre, faceofmalawi can reveal.
The suspect has been identified as Supiliyano John who was working as a Nurse-midwife at Kafere Health Centre.
The fact of the matter is that the pregnant woman name withheld visited the health centre and met the said nurse to find out whether she is ready for delivery.
According to information at hand, the suspect asked the patient that the only way to find out that she is due for delivery or not is to have sex with him.
The pregnant woman refuses the advances and reported the matter to her husband.
The source told this publication that the suspect offered the pregnant woman undisclosed sum of money to silence her.
Dedza District Health Officer Mr. Liabunya confirmed of the arrest in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS), saying the suspect will appear in court soon.
When contacted for comment, Dedza Police Spokesperson Edward Kabango expressed ignorance on the matter.
