Police in Karonga district have instituted investigations towards medical drugs that were dumped by a pedal cyclist at Matema police roadblock situated between Karonga-Chilumba M1 road.
The incident happened around 1500 hours of Saturday,the 23rd June,2018 as Police officers manning the roadblock decided to conduct a search in the suspicious carton carried by a passerby pedal cyclist who was coming from Karonga boma heading Mwenilondo Trading Centre.
The cyclist dropped down the carton and went away with his bicycle as police tried to apprehend him.
After searching in the carton,assorted medical drugs were found as Amoxicillin Capsules, Lumartem (LA),Alprim Tablets,Paracetamol Tablets,Asdoxin,Indomethacin Capsules, Diclofenac,Phenoxymethyl penicillin tablets,Artefan disersible as well as Asrogyl tablets.
Following this, community members have been asked to report against those who misuse such kind of drugs as these culprits are believed to be within their locations.
Police in the district will arrest anyone connected to such malpractices as the drugs are supposed to be used for the intended purposes.
