Livingstonia Synod Moderator Reverend John Gondwe has refuted social media reports that the church has turn down MK5 million donation from President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, saying the reports are untrue.
On Monday the social media was awash with report that the CCAP Livingstonia Synod on Sunday refused a MK5 million donation from Mutharika when he attended prayers at Katawa CCAP in Mzuzu.
According to the reports, the church asked Mutharika to use the money in purchasing the drugs in public hospitals and not to donate the cash to the church.
But speaking in an interview with the press, Reverend Gondwe trashed the speculations saying the reports are untrue.
Gondwe said there is no way the church refuse such a donation.
When asked as to whether Mutharika donated such amount of money to the church, Gondwe dodged the question saying the donation was meant for a school project.
President Mutharika is in the Notheren region and on Tuesday he will officially open Nkhata-Bay- Mzuzu road.
