A 46 year old man has been found dead in a maize field after being strangulated to death by unknown people in Mchinji.

According to Mchinji Police Spokesperson, Kaitano Lubrino, on July 4, the deceased identified as Felix William, told his elder brother Davis Mbewe of some disagreements he had with his former employer (name withheld) but assured the brother the issue was under discussion in order to settle their differences.

“The two brothers were sharing the same house and at around 02:00 hours of the following morning, Davis heard his brother banging the door of his room, an indication that he was going out.

“However, he thought the brother was going outside only to answer the call of nature,” said the police spokesperson, adding that the deceased never returned only to get the shocking news of his death in the morning.

He was discovered lying dead in a maize field, about one kilometre away from their house.

Lubrino said when police got the information; they collected the dead body to Mchinji District Hospital for a full postmortem where the cause of death was established to be strangulation which led to suffocation and death of William.

Meanwhile, police have instituted investigations to manhunt the suspected killers who when caught will answer the charge of murder which is contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.

The deceased hailed from Yeremia Village in the area of Senior Chief Mkanda in Mchinji.
