The Association of People with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) President has asked the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to say something on the involvement of its constituency governor Patrick Chinawa in the missing of albino boy in Phalombe.
The Police in Phalombe arrested Chinawa together with other six suspects for allegedly having a hand in the missing of Joseph Kachingwe aged 12 some weeks ago.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzela confirmed the arrest but denied to give more details on the matter as investigations are underway.
Since the arrest of Chinawa whose DPP constituency governor, the party has not uttered any word attracting mixed reactions with many saying the party knows something on the matter.
Speaking in an interview with the press, Kondowe said DPP’s silence on the matter raises a lot of questions than answers.
Kondowe said the ruling DPP should come out and condemn the violent act by its governor.
“The Roman Catholic recently issued a statement condemning the involvement of its own priest by the name of father Muotcha in the murder of albino man in Machinga and I expected the same from the ruling DPP to condemn the act and discipline its governor Patrick Chinawa.
“But to my surprise everyone is quite including President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika,”’ said Kondowe.
Kondowe said albinos are not safe in this country and leaders including the law enforcers should be in the forefront condemning the barbaric act.
Effort to talk DPP Spokesperson Nicholas Dausi proved futile.
