Just a week after endorsing Professor Peter Muntharika in 2019’s presidential bid, Tumbuka Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe has reportedly made a U-turn saying Malawians themselves should decide on whom to vote for in the impending general elections.
At a rally in Rumphi last week at Bolero where Muntharika laid a foundation stone for the Rumphi-Nyika-Chitipa road, the Tumbuka Chief during his speech was head praising Muntharika saying he will win the forthcoming elections without hiccups.
However, the Tumbuka Chief has of lately reversed his speech saying he is not certain on who will win the elections but people themselves should decide on who to cast their vote for.
“I am not telling people to vote for Muntharika, “he said adding that he is not a politician and he would never be.
The Tumbuka Chief concluded saying Chiefs should give equal ground to politicians to campaign freely and let their subjects make an informed choice to vote wisely In 2019 elections.
